What's the difference between buying distilled water and filtered drinking water?!

Question: What's the difference between buying distilled water and filtered drinking water!?
Just found out we have very high acidity in our water!. So I'm now getting bottled water!. I'm worried more about my cat than myself (i drink the majority of my water while at work)!.

Is there one that is better than the other!? Why!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
There are 3 different types of cleaned water!.

The first is basic filtered water!. It is what the Pur and Britta systems do!. It just basically removes some harsher minerals that affect taste and odor!. They really don't do a thing for any health concern that may be in the water!. As far as bottled water goes normally the only water that may be just filtered is natural spring water!.

The next is purified water!. Purified water has many impurities removed!. These include many health concerns that may or may not be in your water!. There are many degrees to purification but it is between basic filter and distilled!. Most bottled waters are purified!.

Finally distilled removes the most!. Normally it must be distilled twice to actually remove everything!. Water is boiled and the steam, which is pure water, is collected and condensed back into water!. Yes distilled water is needed for batteries and should be used for irons and what not but it can still be consumed by people!.

You may not need to get bottled water though!. A good home purification system will remove enough that your water should go to a normal PH level!. After all it is the contaminates in the water that change a water's PH in the first place!. Getting one will be much cheaper than buying bottled water and more convient as well as better for the environment!. The top of the line system I recommend is even cheaper per gallon by year 2 than the cheap Britta and Pur systems are!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The answers you have received here are correct but just wanted to add that the reason why distilled has no minerals or any impurities is because it comes from steam!. Water is boiled and then the steam vapors are collected condensed upon cooling!. The water collected from steam is distilled water!.
Filtered water!.!.!.preferably from a Brita filter or something like that is best to drink!. Distilled water is best for using in a steam iron because it won't build up mineral deposits around the steam holes on the bottom of the iron like most tap water will!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Filtered water just basically has the lumps removed!. Distilled water has everything removed, including all the minerals!. You probably get all the minerals you need in your food, particularly if you use fluoridated toothpaste!. Filtering may not reduce the acidity!. If necessary, you could add bicarbonate of soda and see if it foams!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Distilled water is the safest and the most tasteless water!. All foreign matter (including minerals that provide flavor) have been removed!.

Filtered water will remove all particles of foreign matter of a specific size!. There are still some minerals and trace amounts of other matter in filtered waterWww@FoodAQ@Com

filtered has impurities removed!. distiled has everything removed!. the only use for distilled is battery water and use in you iron!. you need the minerals in water, drink filtered if you don't trust your local water source!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
