Acid foods sometimes react to metals - especially aluminum causing the food to spoil quickly!. So that is why they recommend that you use a non-metallic container!.
For those kinds of foods - you may notice that the can is usually coated with something to prevent the food from reacting to the metal in the can!. Sometimes it is a white/off-white color, but sometimes it is clear!.
They suggest you put the unused portion in a different container because the original can can not be sealed well after opening!.
I hope that helps!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm not sure, but I once left pineapple juice in the can instead of transferring it to a glass container and it looked really weird, like it got rusty or something!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
its more for the taste, if you leave it in the original container it can have a metallic tasteWww@FoodAQ@Com
