How to break my addiction to Mountain Dew?!

Question: How to break my addiction to Mountain Dew!?
Okay, since I was little I'd drink Mountain Dew!. My parents introduced me to it!. In High School and now in college I depend on it to give a boost and keep me awake or up longer!. However, I would like to consider giving up this unhealthy addiction to it!.

The longest I haven't drank Mountain Dew is 2 months!. I went to Mexico and was unable to purchase any!. I drank one my first day in Mexico and kept one can in my night stand!.!.!.until my last day in Mexico when I drank it as a celebration of my return to USA!. lol At this time I drank Coke!.

I found in USA it's so easy to just go get more!. When I'm not around it I can do okay w/ Coke but, it's still a lot of caffeeine!.

How do I gradually switch or keep myself away from this bad habit!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I used to have the same addiction to Pepsi!.!.!.A doctor finally convinced me to quit but I knew I couldn't go cold turkey!.!.
I made this pact with myself!.!.!.I would allow myself one pepsi a day, usually at lunch!.!.!.
I relished that pepsi!.!.!.lol
One day, like 2 months after I made the pact, I was drinking that pepsi and I though, why am I drinking this crap !?!?
Now I have maybe one a month, as a total treat!.!.!.And you know what !? I can't drink a whole one!.!.!.Usually after about half the pepsi is gone, I don't want anymore!.!. :-)

That's how I did it anyway!.!.!.There was no cold turkey here !Www@FoodAQ@Com

I had a problem, especially when I'm stressed or there was a lot around!.
It got so bad that I was drinking my dads diet pop!. I started drinking it in moderation, my maximum one 12 ounce can a day!.
Buy a 6pack of cans and try to make it last for a week!.
Sobe life water, fruit juice and koolaid are great substitutes!.
It is also a good idea to drink plenty of water!.

Diet is not really that good for you!.
It still has caffeine, aspartame has been thought cause health problems!.
I know it gives me a stomach ache, it got to be bad for anybody if it does that to me!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No need to stop or switch!. Forget the asprin that will only kill ya!. Limit your MD consumption to 3 cans a day and drink pepsi in between!. Walk an extra 4-8 blocks a day and you are as good as new!. jk try to limit your self to half the amount you are use to!. You'll be fine!. happy new yearWww@FoodAQ@Com

slowly quit by drinking lemonade, than swith to root beer for ever!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

drink water!. or gator aid!.or any sports drink!. i lost also 15 lbs just from that!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Just quit cold turkey!.

If you want to try the gradual method, switch the MD with tea which has less caffeine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

IDK, I love it too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, you'll get a headache for a while!.!.!.usually not more than a day or so!. Caffeine is one of the easier habits to break and one of the reasons it's added to some sodas is just exactly what it did to you!.!.!.get you hooked so it's hard to get off!. Mostly what you're experiencing is just an addiction to the flavor!. That's harder to deal with!.

If you want to drink something with caffeine and is good or bad for you depending on the study you read, try coffee, of all things!. You can leave out the sugar (or just put a teaspoon in!.!.!.beats the teaspoon of sugar that's in every ounce of soda!)!. Or use Stevia!.!.!.a recently popularized sweetener that is proving to be less harmful than Splenda, Nutrasweet, or saccharin sweeteners!.

After re-reading your question, I did notice that you said that you'd been drinking it since you were young!. Is it possible that it brings back the feelings that you had when you were a child and it's more a "comfort food" than anything else!? If that's the case, you can deal with that!.!.!.just don't substitute it with anything worse!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
