Can I make tea in a coffee maker?!

Question: Can I make tea in a coffee maker!?
Instead of using ground coffee, can I use tea leaves and make tea in a coffee maker!?

I have not tried it; have you!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Not if you want flavor!. You can use the coffee pot to steep the tea if you have nothing better, but a drip coffee maker is worthless for tea!.

Water runs through coffee grounds extracting the flavor as it goes!. Tea needs to steep for several minutes to infuse the flavor into the water!.

Loose tea tastes best, but you can put several tea bags in a pot or kettle with very hot water (185-195 degrees F) let soak for about 5 minutes & remove bags or filter leaves!.

Update: Lyndee, you're the only one who got it right, but you misunderstood the question!. He wants to put the tea in the coffee basket, run the water over it & drink the tea!. At least that's how I read it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, you can!. You can use tea leaves or even just regular teabags!.

However, I propose you use one for tea and one for just coffee!. If you make both (separately, of course) in the same machine, the tea tends to get an icky coffee taste!. I prefer my tea to taste like tea!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

yes!!!! iced tea is the best ever in the coffee pot you just get a gallon jug and fill 1/2 full with ice cubes and a little bit of water, and then brew the tea and dont let it sit in there very long before you add it to the water/ice mixture! stir and enjoy!!! i love it this way!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

ive done it for years!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sure, works great!. The only problem is it can be a bit weak depending on the tea you're using, because there isn't a lot of steep time for teas like oolong!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
