IS coca cola zero banned in some countries because of a certain substance?!

Question: IS coca cola zero banned in some countries because of a certain substance!?
A funny question and i did not really know how to articulate it!. The professor teaching us biochemistry, claimed the other day to have read a official article about cola zero not existing in USA cause a certain substance is not allowed by a codex (whatever its name is) and that we here in Europe have it (cola zero) due to a different codex!. And the regular stuff about not drinking it because its "BAAAD" and so on!. If this is true then what is the substance that is banned in USA!.
Thank you and forgive me for the confusing question!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
It's not that it's banned!. It just had to be reformulated!.

Many countries have issues with saccharine and high fructose corn syrup (as well as many of the hormones & antibiotics we use in the states in our food) as sweeteners!. So, often what sells here with HFC has to to be made with sugar or regular corn syrup before export!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
