There's not much research on chamomile tea and pregnancy. It's probably safe to drink it in moderation. Chamomile tea is caffeine-free and has a number of beneficial effects on the body:
* It can lower blood sugar somewhat and protect against diabetes
* It is relaxing
* It is anti-inflammatory
* It has anti-microbial effects
* It contains antioxidants.
* It may have antimutagenic, cholesterol-lowering, antispasmodic, and anti-anxiety effects.
HOWEVER. There's one important downside. Chamomile tea is an anticoagulant, so it can make you bleed more -- not good when you're giving birth. Although I'm not a medical professional, my intuition says that you're probably fine to drink moderate amounts of chamomile throughout the early part of your pregnancy. When you start to approach the end, I would stop drinking it because of the anticoagulant effects. Also, do not drink it if you take any medication which has a blood-thinning or anticoagulant effect.
