Why does coffee help me concentrate?!

Question: Why does coffee help me concentrate?
I never drank coffee during high school or the firs year of college, nor did i have much motivaton or concentration to go to class or do homework. But i decided to try it during the mid second year of college and have been drinking it ever since. I am wondering why it refreshes me and helps me concentrate so well? I actually look forward to studying and enjoy doing it now. Why is that?

Coffee has been shown to increase alertness, concentration, and mood. The caffeine can also give you a bit of a burst, making you feel awake/refreshed.

It's not a medical condition, it's one of the reasons people start drinking coffee in the first place. Coffee's no miracle substance; much of what you're feeling may be from a change in sleeping habit, diet, physical activity, as well as just a more mature outlook on your education. Studying a subject you like can also make for an improved outlook.

I roast my own beans and have seven ways to brew coffee. I also read everything I find on coffee.

You probably have ADHD. Medically speaking, stimulants tend to help people with ADHD. I would check in with your doc and see if he can put you on medication that helps you focus, OR continue to self-medicate with caffeine. Many adults conclude that they have ADHD after developing a coffee habit.
