What is the effect of taking boiled coca cola?!

I'm a postgraduate student living with a lot of Chinese international students, so I've learned another use for boiled coca cola. When my throat was sore, my friend Feichi sliced some ginger and boiled it in a small saucepan of coke until the smell of the ginger was fairly strong. Then you let it cool enough to drink it. It acts like a sore throat syrup and coats the back of the throat. I really liked the taste, as well.

you can reduce it down into a syrup consistency, and use it as a glaze on ham or pork loin.

It will be flat (no carbonation) and possibly taste like crap. That is all.
