How come expensive dark roast coffee brands dont taste good to me but cheap folgers dark roast tastes good?!

Question: How come expensive dark roast coffee brands dont taste good to me but cheap folgers dark roast tastes good?
I have been drinking folgers dark roast black silk for a long time now. It is considered very cheap compared to the expensive specialty gourmet dark roast brands. But whenever I buy the expensive gourmet dark roast it doesn't taste good to me like folgers? am i used to the inferior folger black silk dark roast to such extent that any other brand won't suit me?

You're tastes have grown accustomed to a certain...taste.

Like kids raised on fried food and candy don't like their vegetables.

It's a matter of personal choice, but roasting the beans is what gives them flavor. Dark roast beans have been roasted longer than other types of beans. Some of the "premium" coffee producers dark roast their beans even longer than others. Roasting is an expense especially in terms of time. The longer the bean is roasted, the darker it is, but also the more time that takes and time means more energy and probably people, both of which need to be paid for. You may not like the darker flavor. Don't let people get on you about liking Folgers. Lots of people love it!

you're used to it. I still prefer Kraft mac n' cheese to any gourmet option 9 times out of ten.
