Can you brew coffee more than once in a french press using the same grounds?!

Question: Can you brew coffee more than once in a french press using the same grounds?
I was wondering if it was like when brewing tea, people often use the same leaves or teabag to brew a second time. Can coffee grounds be used in the same way?

Technically, you could, but the product would be pretty awful.

In the first brewing, the hot water takes many solids, flavorful oils, aromatic yumminess and a whole chemistry set full of goodies into solution for your eye-opening pleasure. The recommended 4.5 minute wait before pressing is to allow the 'good' stuff to be leached out, but not the 'bad', harsh and bitter elements..

The second brewing will probably yield some pretty odd and possibly poor-tasting compounds that would compare well with well-aged fast food coffee (yuck!).

Best wishes!

Yes you can. Give it a shot. You can at least try it once and say you did it.

People can tell you all day long what it will taste like and in the back of your mind you will not believe it anyway, so I say GO FOR IT!!! Try it at least once.

p.s. You can spit it out if you want, no rule says you actually have to swallow it either.

you could
