Will anything bad happen if I drink TOO much water?!

Question: Will anything bad happen if I drink TOO much water?
With TOO MUCH I mean more than a gallon daily?

Answers:

Water can be dangerous..beyond a certain level.

Water intoxication, also known as hyper-hydration, water poisoning, or overhydration, is a potentially fatal disturbance in brain functions that results when the normal balance of electrolytes in the body is pushed outside of safe limits by over-consumption of water.

Normal, healthy (physically, nutritionally and mentally) individuals have little reason to worry about accidentally consuming too much water. Nearly all deaths related to water intoxication in normal individuals have resulted either from water drinking contests, in which individuals attempt to consume large amounts of water, or long bouts of intensive exercise during which electrolytes are not properly replenished, yet excessive amounts of fluid are still consumed.[1]

Water can be considered a poison when over-consumed just like any other substance. The recommendation from the medical field is to drink at least 1 - 2 liters per day[2] depending upon body mass. Water intoxication would only occur at levels far higher than that.

There is such a thing as drinking too much water. Excessive water in the body causes salt levels in the blood to drop, which interferes with brain, heart, and muscle functioning, leading to death. Any substance, even water, is a poison in large enough quantities. But it's really not about the amount you drink, it's more about the pace at which you drink it. Spreading out a gallon throughout an entire day isn't bad. Just make sure you're letting it all out (sweating/working out, going to the bathroom).

yes after about 4 cups most people will start throwing up the water because your stomach can't handle so much liquid

YES YOU DROWN!!!!!!!! lol of course not
