Can you strain Kava with a burlap sack?!

Question: Can you strain Kava with a burlap sack?
I kinda forgot to buy something to strain it with when I bought it but I have a mini burlap sack that held nuts.

Answers:

Using a burlap bag would probably leave an after taste that would spoil the kava flavor. We use a nylon stocking that you can buy at the local drugstore or clothing store. A nylon is great because you can use it over and over again!

I just mix my kava in the blender for 5 minutes then pour the mix into a nylon and tie the end and start squeezing the juice out.

Nylons have a tighter weave as well so it will keep more of the powder inside...if you used a burlap bag it would let a lot of root out and that would be a very thick, muddy and rather disgusting drink. Plus the little fibers and hairs on the burlap would probably be kind of nasty and might get stuck in your teeth making you look like you had been chewing on a brown squirrel!

;)

Get some nylons! They are only one or 2 dollars and you can rinse and re-use!

It might alter the taste of your Kava if you did that..maybe try a coffee filter?
