It's very likely. A lot of people don't realize it, but they drink most of their calories.

It not that you will lose weight by stop drinking soda, you won't gain excess weight, from the sugar, salt and (HFCS) high fructose corn syrup thats in the drink. You want to lose weight eat healthy... You eliminate HFCS, rarely use sugar, try and minimize salt and fat. And add fiber, and whole grains. You know,healthy. But to lose weight. You have to figure out how much calories you need, and under cut that by about 500 calories, which is about 1 pound a week if u do that. But watch this youtube video. You will Thank me! You should, if you don't replace the soda with more calories in some other form. I quit a bad soda habit by drinking club soda and lost 45 pounds fast, and kept it off now for 14 years. You could also do unsweetened iced tea to slice sugar and calories.



Depends if the amount of calories saved by the elimination of soda is enough to put you in deficit -- the amount consumed is less than the amount to maintain current weight resulting in weight loss.
