You're both partially right. It is supposed to be a rip made with its claw that looks like an M.

Believe it or not, it's a satanic symbol. They're three "claw marks" that appear like an M shape at first glance, but I've learned that they're actually three rips that say "666" in some other language. Hebrew, I think?

Either way, if you think about it, it makes complete sense! In the Bible, God referred to 666 as the number of the beast. What's the name of the drink? MONSTER.
