What is sweet tea? Is it an American thing? Or is it the same as iced tea?!

Question: What is sweet tea? Is it an American thing? Or is it the same as iced tea?
Answers:

It's just regular old iced tea, that's been pre-sweetened, so you don't have to screw with dumping sugar in it and stirring it forever. It's just a convenience thing. A lot of restaurants do it that way now.

In my opinion, any tea that is cooled down and served with ice is iced tea. In the American South, iced tea is a tradition and they usually serve it sweet. Naturally there are all those sodas out there too which are totally sweet.

I often make tea in the summer and let it cool and then serve it with ice and lemon or orange slices. A perfect summer drink. Fruit teas are great served this way too.

It's actually a Southeastern American thing. Sweetened iced tea. If its made right, it can be very refreshing.

Pre-sweetened tea taken cold. It was invented in the U.S. South where temperatures can go very high.
