if i warm my tea up, will the staple in my teabag disrupt the microwave?!

Question: If i warm my tea up, will the staple in my teabag disrupt the microwave?
i know they say if you microwave metal it could spark or catch fire, but would the staple that holds my teabag together constitute enough metal that i should remove the bag if i go to reheat my tea?

It’s fine as long as the staple is submerged in water. If metal is left unexposed in a microwave oven, the metal will deflect the microwaves and cause sparks. However, if it is submerged in water, the microwaves dissipate and are absorbed by the liquid. In turn, the water is heated.

As long as you have the liquid in the cup, there should be no problem. Small amounts of metal will not cause problems.

But, I would suggest removing the tea bag for other reasons. Tea isn't meant to be "cooked" leaving it in while reheating it, might destroy the delicate taste of your tea.

I've done it many times but not on a regular basis and I've never even seen a spark. I typically zap my water for 1 minute and 3 seconds on high.

I believe the staple is simply too small to be a problem, especially if it is immersed in the water.
