why do pop rocks pop inflate a balloon when combined with soda?!

Question: Why do pop rocks pop inflate a balloon when combined with soda?
im doing a science experiment for school, and me and my friend took pop rocks and combined it with soda in a empty water bottle and then put a balloon over the top of the bottle. the balloon inflated with air. why? is it because of the carbonated water in the soda and the carbon dioxide in the pop rocks? or is it just the carbon dioxide in the pop rocks? please help. i need to write a report about this

Have you tried it with only soda? I think that what inflates the balloon is just the gas from the drink. I have never tried it... but it seems to make sense. Maybe the pop rocks just help produce more gas.
