What causes the coffee to run down the side of the carafe when being poured?!

What a coincidence! My wife and I were just talking about that. It seems to me that the designers just did not put enought thought into their design, or did not test it thoroughly. They could easily change the design of the spout so coffee could be pored without making a mess!
This drives me nuts! We ALWAYS have to have a paper towel handy to wipe up the spilled coffee!
I wonder the same thing. I've taken to pouring coffee by holding the mug/cup over the sink
sometimes it overflows.
