Why does coke taste different through a straw?!

Question: Why does coke taste different through a straw?
Coke in a can tastes really different through a straw but McDonald's coke takes normal with a straw?

Answers:

Actually everything tastes a bit different through a straw. The reason for that is that you've reduced the amount of oxygen that mixes with the drink when you drink through a straw - and that alters the taste a bit. Taste is affected by oxygen and by how the consumed product enters your mouth and which taste buds are activated. Now canned drinks will taste very different from a 'fountain' drink simply because the soda is altered in taste through contact with the aluminum can. Aluminum does leech into the soda so you get a bit of a metallic taste - it tastes a little more bitter.

scientific fact

its not the straw that causes the taste difference. mcdonalds (and other restaurants for that matter) use a fountain system to pour the soda into cups. so the taste can vary according the ratio of syrup and water they use. coke in a can (and bottle) comes directly from the coke bottling company. so their syrup/water ratio is always the same. it also depends on how clean mcdonalds' ice is when they put it in the cup. sometimes its very dirty and that affects the taste too.

mcdonals uses power coke when i used to work there

think it is the coke machine not the straw
tastes different from can and glass bottle too
