Should I keep the Keurig Coffee Maker?!

Question: Should I keep the Keurig Coffee Maker?
I have a Bunn coffee maker that works just fine. It makes 2 to 8 cups great! It is hard to make only one cup, it doesn't turn out right. My husband wanted to buy a Keurig coffee maker because it will make one cup at a time. We don't like the K-cups coffee that they offer. We only like the Dunkin Donuts brand. We had to purchase a re-usable filter to be able to use the Dunkin Donuts coffee. I like to drink about 2 cups at a time. After I make the one cup, I have to shake out the grounds in the garbage and then wash it out to place more coffee in the filter...We usually get up at different hours in the morning. I get up about 3 hours before he does. What I have been doing is making a whole pot in my Bunn and placing it in a thermos that keeps the coffee hot for hours. My husband wants me to prepare his cream and sugar and vanilla flavoring in his cup before hand. He only drinks one cup in the mornings. This has worked good lately and I don't really understand why he chose to buy this Keurig coffee maker, it is not that convenient in our case. It is a beautiful machine and it is not a bad concept if they had coffee that you actually liked to drink...they have good teas etc. that you can purchase. It just seems like a lot of expense for something that is more "neat" than convenient or cost effective. Altogether, we paid $160 for this unit and that is without any extra K-cups. We did however, purchase 3 boxes of coffee to use if we are in a hurry??? I don't know, I am just not that happy with this unit, I wish that I had my old Bunn on the counter. My husband doesn't want me to have both units on the counter...He is bossy that way...:( Of course it doesn't look very good with both units on the counter. I agree with him about that. I am wondering if I should just take this back. I bought it at a place that is very good to take things back if you are not satisfied...What should I do???

Answers:

Stick with the Bunn and Thermos method. Bunn is the best coffee maker on the market bar-none! You have to grind beans to use it. That is the best method for getting the best tasting coffee bar-none.

The Keurig uses cremated coffee. Cremated coffee has to be flavored to taste like anything. Flavored coffee is always old coffee. I am not a fan

I admit that when Keurig announced back in 2000 that they were going to revolutionize coffee making as we knew it, I was intrigued. I signed up for their email announcements and waited

Then I discovered they were using pods of old flavored coffee beans. I discounted them right away

I started looking for the best coffee maker on the market. My research and piles of spreadsheets and decks pointed to the Bunn coffee maker.

You own the best coffee maker. Don't replace it with the dog and pony show that just can't make even a decent cup of coffee.

Gee whiz, now I'm sorry I just bought my second Keurig. We are not coffee experts, so we think the Kurig is great. I will admit not all the coffee is great buy I like their Donut House one.

On another note, why does your husband get to make all the decisions?

Buy a french press. This makes great coffee, can be taken on trips, camping, etc. Why keep something that makes such expensive coffee? The coffee you have to purchase with the Keurig is SO expensive. I would take it back. With a french press, you can make one cup at a time, and you use your preferred coffee.
