Can you drink too much green tea?!


Question: Can you drink too much green tea?
I've moved in with my dad, and basically he has a lot of green tea. It's this loose leaf roasted brown rice green tea, and it's amazing!!! I seriously replaced it with water. I'm drinking about 2400ml a day or 10 US Cups. I usually drink it at night, so i can stay up and finish my HW. I'm not lacking sleep, I usually get about 10 hours a day. Is there anything i should be aware of drinking green tea a lot, or any kinds of tea. I also drink a jasmin white tea ( I mix the jasmin leaves with the white tea leaves)

I guess you can drink too much of anything!

Just don't be ridiculous with the amount you drink.



I believe this tea is very popular in Japan. If you love it so much and you're not adding sugar/sweetener, then it should be OK. I usually polish off at least 3 to 4 cups of green tea when I go to a restaurant. As this tea does have caffeine, I would watch my body for any overload symptoms like dizziness, nervousness and being uptight. In such a case, I would then reduce the amount of tea.

it has natural caffiene which is a diaretic so you might have to use the toilet a lot for #2.

But overall it's a great drink I love it too!

The Chinese have been drinking green tea for more than 2,000 years. But until A.D. 600, green tea was used mainly as a medicinal tonic, not an everyday beverage.

Like any other herbal medicine, green tea's healing power has to be carefully harnessed. There are times when we should avoid drinking too much green tea.

Tea can cause indigestion to those with a sensitive stomach.

It also reduces absorption of non-heme iron, causing problems to those prone to iron deficiency anaemia.

We can take precautions against these side effects by avoiding tea drinking around mealtimes or on empty stomach.
