What's all this hype and danger talk about Energy Drinks?!

Question: What's all this hype and danger talk about Energy Drinks?
I was watching the news and out of nowhere they started talking about how energy drinks will cause serious health problems and will give you heart attacks. I drink energy drinks here and their, mainly cause I've cut down alot. But, in the day, I used to drink three or four daily, and experienced no health problems besides rapid beating heart sometimes (which is normal cause of the caffeine content) and pretty much just a stimulated mind state. Other than that, no other health problems.

So, are energy drinks really as bad as the media is making them out to be? Can energy drinks be safely consumed if used only here and their? And also, has their been any recorded deaths caused by drinking energy drinks?

They've been linked to deaths in Europe & banned in France

No thorough studies have been made yet, but massive doses of stimulants (especially in developing bodies) are probably not a great idea.

I wasn't surprised when I heard about energy drinks causing serious health problems. See, about 8 or 9 months ago I had a bad experience with them. I wanted to try out a Rockstar energy drink so I had my mom buy me one. I thought it was delicious and I felt fine after drinking it. Well the next day I wanted another. Bad decision. I had a really weird feeling in my stomach and in my chest. So I go to the movies and come back. I watch a little tv and bam! the room starts spinning, I checked my blood pressure on my dad's machine and it's like 160/90 I'm having a major panic attack. So now I have had anxiety issues ever since.

Are energy drinks really as bad as the media is making them out to be? - Yes, but really it depends on the person's tolerence to what's in the drinks.

Can energy drinks be safely consumed if used only here and there? - Well for me personally I'd never drink another one ever in my life but I guess you could have one here and there. But really it's a waste. Nothing but megaloads of caffeine, sugar, flavoring, and water.

Has their been any recorded deaths caused by drinking energy drinks? - I wouldn't be surprised if there was considering the experience that I've had with them.
