Well, it contains caffe?ne, which is known to be a stimulant. However, new research has suggested that it's also more the idea of waking up that we associate with it that plays a big part.

Well yes because its a stimulant, which makes your body react when its taken (generally has to be about 2+ cups to have any real affect) but it raises your adrenaline levels and so makes you feel more alert and ready for action!! lol that's why people say if you drink too much coffee it can make you stressed more over time because your body is constantly in an anxious mode lol...tried my best to explain!! lol

my brain!! ( i like coffee!!)

It is because of the stimulant named "Caffeine".

In humans, caffeine acts as a central nervous system (CNS) stimulant, temporarily warding off drowsiness and restoring alertness.- From wikipedia/Caffeine

Coffee doesn't make you feel awake actually, it's a mind thing. Caffeine temporarily keeps you awake but makes you CRASH HARD making you soooo sleepy. Drink water or tea. Those keep you active!
