why is someone who works too much called a workaholic? Shouldn't it be a workic? Shouldn't a workaholic be someone who goes to work drunk?

No. Aholic means obsessive with something or other. They used the shortened version of alcohol, alco. I think. These are my observations, sorry ^.^
