Organic Taurine is an acid found in the bile of the lower intestine and, in small amounts, in the tissues of many animals, including humans.

Synthetic Taurine is created from isethionic acid through a reaction of ethylene oxide with aqueous sodium bisulfite. It can also be created from a reaction of aziridine with sulfurous acid. This leads directly to taurine.
