Can I make less cups with a 6-cup espresso maker?!

Question: Can I make less cups with a 6-cup espresso maker?
Hi,

I have a 6 cup stove top espresso maker (The type with two sections in which the water bubbles up a spout in the middle) but I was wondering if it would still work if I put less water in the bottom and less coffee in the middle? Me and my girlfriend would only want to share 4 espresso's between us and we obviously don't want to waste the other two.

I know that in some instructions it says to make sure the pressure valve on the side is covered so I just wanted to ask before I tried and possibly ruined my espresso maker, I also want to make sure that my espresso is the same strength, not weaker.

Thanks for any help.

Answers:

No.

I have one and you really can't vary much (th most you should experiment with is the size of the grounds). If you put in less grounds, they won't expand properly and the flavors won't extract evenly. It may end up muddy and/or bitter.

It's measured in 2oz espresso cups, so either take an extra ounce each or just dump that little bit.

I roast my own beans & have seven ways to brew coffee.

will i do not have one but it should work
