active ingredients in coke will dissolve a finger nail in four days! in many states highway patrol carries 2 gallons of coke to remove blood off the road after a car accident put a t bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will dissolve in 2 days! 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (This likely applies to half the world population.)

In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.

Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.

One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied (in a University of Washington study).

Lack of water is the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

Preliminary research indicates that 8 to 10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.

Tonight, when I put my cold bottle of Coke on the counter in a local store, the cashier, who had been silent the entire time (not even a smile) said, You know that will eat your teeth? I said, Yes, and my stomach, too. I've had Pepsi used on my battery to remove corrosion and I've read all the uglies - but I'm addicted. Caffeine. I'm thinking of moving to tea, but haven't gotten there just yet. Heck, after I had my child you know what I wanted? A fountain Coke! A fountain Coke! Do you know how much water they have in them? At least that's what it looks like. I got in trouble for that first Coke, too - had a C-section and had to, well, do something before I could drink the hard stuff (yes, like Coke!)

i have always perferred a bottle of water over any kind of soda really. on occasion i might drink grape soda or root beer but i have always disliked anything else. so water to answer you question

Certainly water is much better. I like the taste of soda better, but I've stopped drinking so much, for health reasons.

Wow I did not know this information! I feel guilty for drinking a Rockstar right now. I think I will drink some water instead.

Water. Coke is nasty regardless of cancer risk or whatnot.

Water..

waterrrr

water

water is better for you. But its okay to have a soda every once in a while.

Coke ;)

I'd still PREFER a glass of Coke. Regardless of this health rant.

everyone knows that drinking water is better for our body system. however its tasteless and unapetising. In a store i would sometimes buy a bottle of water, however i often choose the coke or pepsi instead purely on the fact that it tastes nicer.
i do understand about the fact of teeth rot, and i have braces so i dont drink soft drinks much because it can harm my teeth but every once in a while i like a soft drink, its one of lifes little luxurys!
i just drink it through a straw so it dosent come in contact with the teeth.
and as for the statistics in this question, if we looked into everything that would harm our health, we would never do anything..ever. I mean im sure being on this computer is harming your eyes/health. and your posting questions. so it dosent stop people :)
