Why does water always taste weird in the middle of the night?!

because your mouth might be dry. if you sleep with your mouth open it tends to dry out and makes it hard for your taste buds to taste because there's no saliva to dissolve the food into.
Most likely because the source where you get water from in the middle of the night, isn't where you get it from at other times.
Try getting some "drinking water" from the store, you will find it tastes much better.
because it has been sitting in the tap for the whole time since the last time you ran it...so it could have a bit of sediment build up... i always run the water for a minute or two before filling my glass
Perhaps it's not water. Maybe you should turn on the light before you take a sip.
