Japanese tea? anyone?!

Question: Japanese tea? anyone?
I like just about everything about japan. Does anyone know a good way to make the tea? And can the ingredients/tools to make it be available at walmart?

Answers:

Just short stuff on drinking tea and stuff, if you don't want it too elaborate and just sip in enjoyment and not like do whole tea ceremony stuff (which is far more advanced).

If you really want great Japanese tea you'll want to make it out of good quality Japanese tea blends (Matcha works too). One rule of thumb is to not use boiling water but to let the temperature cool down to around 70-80 degrees-ish, though the exact temperature depends on the type. Don't steep the tea for too long (becomes bitter sometimes), but the duration differs from the type (usually anywhere between 45 to 90 seconds).

Preferably you'll want brush, teaset and the like (usually a bit stouter than Western types). If you're drinking matcha you might want a tea whisk, preferably bamboo. All of that equipment can't be found at Walmart ... if you don't want to get too deep into it just make sure you buy Japanese tea leaves, not teabags (don't add anything to it). Prepared tealeaves generally make things pain-free.

I get a sencha tea bag and put it in a cup of hot water.

If you really want to drink tea using the tea ceromony, you need to take a class. YOu would not be able to buy the brush and other stuff at walmart. YOu can but it in the internet. YOu do realize how long it takes to do the tea ceremony.
