I looove the new McDonalds Sweet Tea - How do they make it?!

Question: I looove the new McDonalds Sweet Tea - How do they make it?
From PA and they introduced this Sweet Tea stuff recently (you know, in the "stay cool cup") that runs $1 for a big one... I could drink this all day long! So I want to see how it's made so I can do it from home.

McDnonal's recipe is based on the traditional southern sweet tea
here are a few recipes:
12-15 servings
10 min 5 min prep
3 lipton family-size tea bags
1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
8 cups boiling water

Boil about 8 cups water.
Add 3 family (large) size tea bags and steep for 3-5 minutes. You can also use 8 small regular sized tea bags.
Mix concentrated hot tea with 1 3/4 cup sugar and stir well in tea pitcher.
Add cold water and stir to combine.

Bring 3-4 cups of water to a boil. Add a pinch of baking soda to the water and add 3 family sized tea bags. Remove from heat and cover. Allow to sit for at least 10-15 minutes. Pour into gallon pitcher and add 1 1/2 cups sugar. Then fill with cold water. Refrigerate.
*the soda takes out the bitterness and darkens the tea....this small amount doesnt change the taste.

2-3 family size tea bags, bring them to a boil in about 10 cups of water (a new, clean coffee pot works great for brewing tea), then heat off, let the tea sit for about an hour. then add 1 and 1/2 cups of sugar, the brewed tea, and finish filling the gallon pitcher with water.

I'm from North Carolina and you can get sweet tea at any restaurant around here, or anywhere in the South. (You can't find it that often after you get past, say, Virginia.) I've had the tea they serve at McDonald's and it honestly isn't the best. But the good news is that sweet tea is fairly easy to make at home.

First, you need some tea bags. The best brand is Luzianne. Everyone recommends it and they're right - Lipton tea tastes bad in iced tea, and a lot of your flavored teas will go bad after a day or two if served cold. You also need a fairly large-sized pitcher.

Fill the pitcher with hot water about halfway, and put in some tea bags - usually I use six to eight. Let it steep for a while - an hour or so usually - and then add cold water until the pitcher is full. Then, add sugar - this depends on your taste and how sweet you want it. A cup or so is a good starting point. (You can use artificial sweetener like Splenda if you don't want all the sugar but it doesn't taste as good.)

A lot of this - how many tea bags you use, how much sugar, etc. can be adjusted according to taste. Usually it takes a few tries to get it right. But the basic recipe is very flexible and easy to make at home.

Hope this helped.

Sweet Tea Recipe

Ingredients

6 – cups water
3 – tea bags, regular sized (such as lipton)
sugar to taste
4 – trays, ice

Mixing Instructions

Pour 6 cups of fresh cold water into your pot and add tea bags. Bring water to a boil. Remove pot from heat and let the tea bags steep in the water for 10-15 minutes.

Pour tea into an empty pitcher. Add sugar to taste and stir until sugar is dissolved. I usually start off with about 4 ounces of sugar and adjust to taste. Fill the remaining pitcher with about 4 trays of ice. This should yield about 10 cups of tea.
