I have got a job in Tesco's in chilled stock control, can anyone tell me if there is much lifting involved ?!

They'll have fork-lift trucks and other lifting gear for the heavier merchandise. Well you'll certainly be handling a lot of the goods by hand, and you won't be on your own doing this. With some experience and time, you will be just one of the staff and think nothing of it.
Supermarkets in general train their employees to be flexible and that means you'll be trained in all areas of the store. This is standard practise now, so don't be too surprised when you get upgraded or moved about.
