Why does it hurt to drink water?!

Question: Why does it hurt to drink water?
When i was young i would never drink water, i just didn't like the taste i couldn't swallow it. Just today i tried drinking some water from a new water cooler my brother bought. It's been about 2 years since i have drunk pure water (just regular water not tea coffee milk etc). After drinking about half a glass my stomach started to hurt, i looked around and people have said things like "don't drink on an empty stomach" or "don't chug it", i didn't do either yet it still hurts.

Answers:

Start with drinking very small amounts. Once your body gets used to it you will be fine, especially if you use water to replace an unhealthy liquid intake (tea, coffee, fizzy drinks, etc.)

You may have a rare terminal illness, called, lynomepia. We are currently studying it at the University of Guelph, and studies are not yet complete, though the symptoms are irritation cause through the consumption of water. If these symptoms continue, studies show, that you will soon start urinating blood, and your stomach will eventually digest itself, and you will soon see it in your stool. See a doctor, and your will. Good luck.

Sometimes if you drink to much water it makes your stomach hurt. But I'm gonna guess that its all in your head. Since you already had the mind set that you wouldn't like it maybe you forced your mind to make an excuse to not drink it. Kinda like a placebo medicine.

since you never drink water evidently, the acid levels inside your stomach are out of whack completely. this happens a lot to people who drink too much soda/coffee. if you want to help fix it, you need to adjust your diet and what you drink.

You're not used to it. Absolutely anything you eat for the first time may cause a funny tummy. You should be drinking 8-10 glasses per DAY, kid. You need to get used to it, just keep drinking it and it will stop hurting.

You're doing it wrong
