What is a good alternative to energy drinks aside from balanced diet, exercise, etc?!

Question: What is a good alternative to energy drinks aside from balanced diet, exercise, etc?
I'm a full time university student and there are times I need to push myself past my limit. For example, last minute studying late at night (yes cramming isn't good, but I honestly didn't have a choice here). I'm drinking an energy drink to stay awake but it's making me feel like crap. Being a biochem student, I know how bad they are for you. So is there anything that would work equally well? I eat fine, I exercise regularly, but like I said, there are times when I need to push myself further. Any suggestions?

Answers:

I know what you mean , used to do it myself.. However you are overlooking something. You are more in danger of doing things incorrectly and retaining less of what you try to memorize using sleep deprivation and stimulants. No choice? Your best solution... Buy a bunch of fruit.. Oranges, apples, blackberries, blueberries, ginger, etc. Invest in a juicer and juice it. This not only gives you some energy but the ability to think better. The other might more efficiently help you better in keeping awake but the natural sugar in the juice should be enough of a compromise...

A nice hot cup of lemonade. Yes, strong lemon flavor and very hot!!! Great pick-me-up drink. Even it you use something other than a real lemon, as in a mix. Try it, you might like it!!!!

You could get like smoothies with energy mixed in or eat/drink wheatgrass. it gives a lot of energy.

Starbucks..(caffeine) its natural at least
