Not the soda itself, as it has no calories.

But studies have shown that the artificial sweeteners, like aspartame, interfere with the mechanism in your body that regulates appetite, and may cause you to eat more.

"Researchers at the Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio found a 41% increase in risk of being overweight for every can or bottle of diet soft drink a person consumes each day. "

I had heard a study done by a guy who for one month ate nothing but Twinkies, cupcakes, milk, and vitamins to get everything his body didn't get from the food and the guy didn't gain a pound because he still only ate the recommended amount of calories. It's not what you eat, its how much you eat. I should point out the man was still in perfect health after the full month (blood pressure was normal, cholesterol was normal, etc.)

Heck yes it will make you fat. I hate that the word "diet" is thrown in there. It's full of fake chemicals and sweeteners. It is a better alternative to regular coke, though, as far as calories go.

still lots of sugar
