Does coffee go bad...even if you've never opened the can?!

Question: Does coffee go bad...even if you've never opened the can?
Does coffee have an expiration date?

Answers:

It has a best before date. On mine, it's printed on the bottom.

I don't think it would go "rotten" like make you sick or anything, it just wouldn't be fresh tasting. It would go stale.

It gets stale after a while. Vacuum sealing and the like help but won't stop the process. Obviously opening the container will speed up its going stale. Old coffee is still usable as long as it has been kept dry - but won't taste as good.

Most coffee has a 'sell by' date but doesn't 'expire' for some time after that.
