Is it safe to keep a Brita water dispenser outside?!

Question: Is it safe to keep a Brita water dispenser outside?
I have a Brita dispenser like the one below and wanted to know if its safe to keep on a counter and not in the fridge. Any chance of microbes or bacteria growing in the filter? I read a long time ago that bacteria can grow on the carbon that's in the filter but can't find the link anymore.

yes it realy gets old that way

i don't refrigerate mine, mainly because I make tea with mine, but I wouldn't worry about bacteria growing in water so much because it doesne't really sit that long. But if you are concerned, you should keep it in the fridge.
