What kind of tea should I buy?!

Question: What kind of tea should I buy?
I see a huge selection. Some have herbs, some are decaffeinated, some are laxatives. Is there anything to watch out for? I'm not feeling great, getting over a sickness. But relaxation also might be nice. So do I just grab something and try it? Or is there some way to make a decision?

Answers:

First, any plant product meant to be steeped in boiling water and the infusion drunk can be called "tea". So first you need to decide whether you're looking for "real" tea, C. sinensis, or "herbal tea" (anything else; also called "tisane"). Herbal teas, by and large, do not contain caffeine; real tea, unless decaffeinated, does contain caffeine.

If you're looking for real tea, I would suggest a Japanese green tea ("sencha") or a regular black tea. Japanese green teas are supposed to be very good for health (along with white teas), but the flavor isn't what you would imagine if you're used to black tea. Regular black tea isn't bad for you either and is the flavor you'll recognize as "tea".

I know much less about herbal tea. If you do not have hay fever, asthma, or other respiratory allergies, I suggest chamomile; it's relaxing, if you aren't allergic.

Tazo green tea or black tea with a dash of lemon and a drop of honey is perfect for being sick. and green tea is great for you. it is a natural laxative, metabolism booster, and anti depressant

If you would like a tea with a nice flavor, try rooibos, or red bush tea. It naturally has no caffeine in it. Add a spoon of honey or sugar and a bit of milk. Or you can just drink it black.

if you have no idea, you can try a sampler pack which are available from some brands. then you can narrow it down if you can. If not, try another sampler pack with different teas.

kava tea :] its great. It makes you feel really relaxed and euphoric.
