what is the best caffeine substitute?!

Question: What is the best caffeine substitute?
I am a college student currently going through a though year and I have to study hard. I find it difficult to study for several hours without drinking coffee. I drink instant coffee since I don't have the time and needed material in the dorm to make coffee. but it is bothering my stomach. I do drink tea or green tea but their not enough. I was wondering if there was sth I could use instead of coffee with not much side effects?
I think I read somewhere that Tyrosine could be a good substitute but I don't know much about it.

P.S. I have problem concentrating so in past I have tried using Ritalin without prescription but my dad who is a GP forbade me. Now my problem isn't just lack of concentration I do need energy to stay awake.

Answers:

I know exactly what you mean! I am a college student too and I can't drink coffee because it messes with my stomach and it makes me way too jittery! Here's what I've found:

YERBA MATé

It's like a South American herbal tea but it is highly fermented so it has 100% of the caffeine of coffee so you get the same alertness you would if you were to drink coffee. The only difference is that the caffeine goes through your blood stream instead of your nervous system so you don't get jittery. Oh, and it's herbal which mean it doesn't come from a bean which means it's not going to upset your stomach.

It's what keeps me going, so I hope it works for you too! Good luck!

There really isn't anything. The healthy things to try are to eat healthy, get lots of sleep, exercise and drink lots of water. That could be you're problem... you're probably dehydrated. Water will keep you alert.

Other than that, the only other thing I can think of is meth, but thats going to have lots of side effects, like.... your teeth falling out, brain damage, etc.

I would pick up a couple Starbucks coffee VAnilla Coffee in the can from your local gas station. so yummy and just the right amount of caffiene.

A handful of almonds before you start studying or 1-2 apples usually works for me
