Where can I find good-tasting coffee? I remember being very young and going over to this elderly man's house.?!

I would go with my mom and my brother. I remember he would always have coffee. He would make a pot of it. What I remember the most is when he would make it, there would be this good-smelling aroma. The last time I smelled that aroma was when I went on a dinner cruise on this boat. Every since, I have had coffee, but the taste isn't the same and no matter if it's made in a coffee pot, instant. Starbucks or whatever, that aroma just isn't there. Too me that was the sign of good coffee. Oh! that aroma was so intoxicating, even as a child and the coffee was pretty good, as well. So, hopefully all of you coffee connoisseurs can help me out. Thanks in advance.
