is skim milk healthier than 2% ?!

Question: Is skim milk healthier than 2% ?
hi,
i wanted to knoe which of these is the healthiest: skim milk, 2% percent or whole milk ?
and which one would you recommend for a young teen to drink ?

im looking for a detailed answer,
thanks.

Answers:

Actually, the AMA or Pediatric version of the group recommends whole milk until age 2 only.
After that, they recommend one of the lower fat milks, and eventually non-fat milk (0% fat) as being healthiest.

I've written more details about the "milks" and how to step down so you'll hardly notice the difference, in my answers to these previous questions (and also discussed how being lactose intolerant might change that somewhat):

There isn't one absolute answer to your question. If a teen is active and eats a healthy diet with no underlying medical conditions, whole milk would be healthier. They would use the fats to maintain their active life style. Skim would be better for a teen with a sedentary life style with a high fat diet. You would have to judge each teen based on activity, medical history and diet.

For a young teen I would say stay off the skimmed milk because, as you are still growing, you need whole milk, which incidentally is less than 5% fat anyway. Good luck. God bless. Gladgran.

Milk can be problematic for anyone.
