It has a small amount of caffeine. Real chocolate, which is derived from cacao, naturally has caffeine in it.

Chocolate milk has caffeine in it too.
Even decaf coffee has a small amount of caffeine.

If the hot chocolate is using artificial flavors to taste like chocolate, then maybe no caffeine.

Hot chocolate should have caffeine in it, but it may not as some manufacturers take it out. Either way it's a traditionally soothing drink so it may be more effective in putting you to sleep unless you all ready have pretty good energy going.

Although it would have caloric energy in it so it may help you do stuff while awake late

Chocolate does, but a lot of companies take it out. Check the box. And even if it does have caffiene, it probably won't be enough to keep you awake.

some do like mocha witch is a type of hot chocolate but the regular kind has no caffeine in it because it is made with only chocolate!

No it dosent try an energy drink or mixing hot chocolate and coffee

a little bit, but not really enough to make a huge difference in your energy level
