Why does coffee do this?!


Question: Why does coffee do this?
I'm going into a field with very long hours and not a lot of time for sleep, and I can't drink coffee because of its effect on me. I usually have a much harder time breathing among other things..

Any substitutes to caffeine for the same purpose or explanations as to why this is?

Answers:

You shouldn't eat too much sugar or fattening foods/candies. Sugar tends to break down the body after a while, only giving you a quick boost for a short time. The relapse truly is NOT worth it. Also its bad for the teeth.

I'd say drink some green tea without caffeine.
You could also eat apples, pears, watermelon, and drink lots of water during the hours. Make sure to take a daily multivitamin after you eat breakfast, and never skip lunch. Get some fruits and vegetables into your lunches and breakfasts, try not to eat too much McDonald's/Burger King breakfasts & lunches, no matter how convenient they are. Make your own breakfast and lunch.

Try to avoid sweet drinks such as Hawaiian Punch, regardless of how "uplifting" people make it seem. Maybe you could take a shot of that 5-Hour Energy pill, if you are compatible with it. Maybe you should visit your doctor to confirm this.

Also, maybe an altered sleep schedule may help. Consider going to bed an hour earlier than usual. It may take a while to get adjusted, but trust me, as a high school student, its totally worth it.

You should consult your doctor before you attempt to drink any coffee again. Its really important that you aren't allergic, and the reasons why you react to it.

Never skip lunch, breakfast, or dinner. You will guarunteed to be way tired than usually. Try a daily multivitamin that is suitable for your age/gender. One-a-Day Men/Women/Teen Girl/Teen Guy are a high recommendation.

My friends mom gets heart palpitations when she consumes too much caffeine, its probably something similar. Try working out more often, eating healthier and getting more rest, these lifestyle changes should give you more energy without caffeine.



sugar, try apples or juices, you can use piece of hard candy when feeling sleepy. You can also try protein like in bananas.



same thing with me! except i can drink coffee. But i CANT drink energy drinks. I got taken to the ER, because i thought i was gonna die.
