I personally use stainless still because this kind of plastic has been proven to leach DEHP (Bis(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate) after repeated use and is a probable carcinogen. They can also harbor bacterial growth inside any cracks and crevices inside the bottle, which cannot be too good for your health either!

One way is to use reusable water filter bottles. They are made of BPA-free plastic, and are fitted with a water filters. Even if it leaks Bisphenol A, the water filter inside should be able to remove some of it. The water filter can also remove some chlorine and odour. Some can even remove bacteria, and heavy metals. You can see some reusable water filter bottles available in the market here: http://waterfiltersforlife.blogspot.com/…

But if you prefer not to have to deal with plastic, a stainless steel bottle is still better. Cheers.

Plastic bottles all leech to some extent, even the ones that are made to hold water, but presumable those would be safest to reuse.

Stainless is better in the long run.

But I've just had an idea about a glass bottle with a solid plastic cover, so even if the glass breaks the water wouldn't escape, and glass is even better than stainless for keeping water clean,

....sorry, got to dash...to the patent office.

Yes. I own plastic water bottles that are the brand name Hydrate. They are a thicker plastic and do not crumple easily like regular water bottles. You can also buy them in all sizes; even gallon jugs. You may try looking at Earth Fare or other chain health food markets.

If you ever want to reuse a bottle, use stainless steel.
For the few pennies / cents you are saving, it's not worth using plastic.
And you can never put hot water into a plastic bottle, which is annoying.

I use the plastic ones all the time. You can limit their use to 3 or 4 times and replace with another if your overly concerned

i use plastic bottle to drink out of all the time
