A blender, with a little spinning piece(not that sharp), only blends: stirs the contents up together into a mix. You can accomplish the same thing with a covered container, shaking it yourself, or stirring with a spoon or whisk.
An extractor has many tiny sharp blades (in a plate or flat surface) which will destroy a carrot, leaving the juice over here, the pulp over there. It extracts the liquid from celery, carrots, beets plus lighter things like strawberries, grapes, etc. Juice extractors are used to create medicinal vegetable or fruit juice recipes, or simply tasty fruit/veg drinks.
The extractor will co$t a hearty chunk more.
