Suddenly, the taste of coffee and diet pepsi just are horrible to me, what is that about?!

Question: Suddenly, the taste of coffee and diet pepsi just are horrible to me, what is that about?
I have noticed in the last 3 months, that I can barely drink a cup of coffee or a diet pepsi or coke. The coffee is just so disagreeable and the soda's have a nasty taste to me. I was a coffee and diet coke addict. Could their be a medical issue attached to taste changes or is that a natural thing. I am 61, in relatively good shape, workout, and eat well.

We're about the same age and I do know our tastes change as we age. My experience has been things do taste differently as we, errr, get older. Your change seems more sudden than that. I wonder if you're taking any medications. I've noticed a huge change in how things taste since changing meds for high blood pressure last year.

Another possibility is the manufacturers changing their formulas for their products. Coke and Pepsi fiddle with their formulas occasionally as the price of ingredients change. Don't know but I also might suggest a check with your doctor if it is that bothersome.

I very well could be a medical issue that has ruined the taste of coffee and soda for you.

I don't know what the medical issue would or could be, but it is sure worth getting it checked out by a good doctor. It may be something simple that medication could help. Or if it is not simple, then it is definitely a good thing to have seen the doctor.

Also, have you started any new or different medications or over the counter items. Also any supplements or vitamins? Any of those can change/affect a person's taste.

Good luck...................................

Oh no no no.
As you grow older, your taste buds change. You develop a taste for different things, and you loose taste for certain things. Simply said.

For example, I used to HATE ketchup, mustard, onions, pickles, tomatoes, lettuce, artichoke hearts, macadamia nuts, oranges and sauerkraut.

Now I love them all.
