why does iced water become less when it melts?!


Question: Why does iced water become less when it melts?
just curious, i put a full bottle of water in the freezer and when it melted there was only half a bottle. how does that work?

Because of how it's particles are made. Water particles are more separated compared to other matters. Particles keep moving, they never stop and when they freeze they spread out. This makes it larger when it is freezed.



Some of the water evaporated with the ice cubes cause the cubes were in the water and they were touching it.



water, when it crystallizes into ice, expands... so when it melts again, it contracts



evaporation...learn it...live it



I agree with the other answers. But did you ever think someone was just thirsty and drank some?
