Question: Can too much Rooibos (Redbush) tea be harmful to health?
We drink tons of Rooibos tea - can too much be harmful to health? What does it contain?

No one's identified anything yet- it's a fairly tame substance.

The only teas that have had proven side effects are ones with caffeine, except Camomile, which some people get a rash from.

I shouldn't worry about it, the only side effect will be that your skin might start turning rooibos colour if you're really drinking that much!



As a general rule, tea is good for you. A potential exception would be possible thyroid issues. Tea contains fluoride, which in large doses (or for people sensitive to it) can cause thyroid problems. If you're feeling fine & get checked out regularly, I would just enjoy it; nowadays everything is bad for you in some way anyway.
