Best way to make tea?!

Question: Best way to make tea?
I really love tea, but the only way I've really done it is to microwave the water in the cup and steep regular teabags in it the required time. Is there a better way? I'm looking into purchasing a teapot and/or kettle, which one would be better (what's the difference in taste or anything)?

Answers:

i like having control over making tea. a microwave doesn't really give you that much control. By control, I mean controlling the water temp. I have an electric kettle that shuts off after boiling. That way, I don't have to worry about burning the place down. If you got a stove top kettle, you'll always have to remember to shut off the heat.

different teas require different temperatures. black teas require boiling. green teas and white teas require cooler hot water. you can brew tea in a coffee mug and don't really need a kettle.

The best way is to not let it brew. What I do is poor on the hot water, swirl the bag around with a spoon for about 30 seconds, then fish out the bag and throw it away. This is because it means it won't end up being stewed. I just find dormant brewing ruins the tea. I also, once I have chucked the bag away, empty some of the tea down the sink; just a splash. This is because it takes the bitter edge of the taste of the tea. I then add a generous splash of milk into the mug as I like it milky. Also, it won't be cold because you did not let it brew for ages; if you add a lot of milk to a cup that's brewed for ages, it will be very cold, so I don't do that.

I can't believe my sad life has come to the point that I tell someone how to make the perfect cup of tea on yahoo answers. Then again, I like to share this because I have suffered horrific cups of tea in the past made by others. Yuck!

Experience. That's all.

Its better microwave. i microwave water for 2 mins THEN put the teabag in. With a teapot it tastes funky.

Hot tea? Just one cup? I make sweet tea a gallon at a time

Your doing it the best way...
