Children drinking tea and coffee!!!?!

Question: Children drinking tea and coffee!!!?
I'm getting so fed up with my mother-in-law, she keeps giving my son Tea and Coffee, she started when he was just 2 and i said to her it's bad for him and has caffiene in it and it's so un-necessary so please don't give it to him anymore! she was a bit shocked and said it's fine and she used to put it in her kid's bottles when they were babies so i researched on the internet and i was right, it is a big no no! my son is now three and she's started giving him tea again, i have asked her not to as he doesn't need to drink tea, he's quite happy with just milk and water and juice - no need for tea at all, she say's ok at the time but then gives it to him again the next time she has him! it's really annoying me but i don't want to be rude to her and cause a family rift over tea but it looks like thats going to have to happen if she doesn't do as i ask! i know some of you think it may be ok and thats fine but i personally don't want my son drinking it just yet so can anyone please suggest..

Answers:

my mother in law picked my son up this morning and my husband had to remind her of the same thing. My father in law insists on giving my 1 year old diet coke. He thinks that since its diet its not a big deal. I had to tell my mother in law if it didn't stop my son wouldn't be visiting with out me.

I know its hard but they are kind of like children, be stern but not mean

It's fine, my grandpa is 80 years old and has been drinking tea and coffee since he has been 5 years old.

Obviously you need to stop leaving him alone with her. She might be doing this because she doesn't respect you.

Tea is fine!

so get your husband to tell her to stop please
it his mother after all

You need to tell your mom in law to BUTT OUT! First of all, this is your kid, you need to take control. Don't be scared what the others think if you put your foot down. It may be hard but in the long run, you will get more respect. This is not about your kid drinking coffee or tea at two but gaining control on how you want to raise your kid. If she gets mad, so be it, if she wants to see her grand children she will do as you ask and respect your ways of raising your child. You should remind her if it would be ok if someone told her if someone under minded her decisions for her children. If she is any kind of decent person, she will get over it and move on. ;} Like FD said, your husband needs to step in.; }
