Why put fluoride in water?!

Question: Why put fluoride in water?
I have a tube of tooth paste here, it says "contains fluoride, if ingested seek medical advice".
So why do the government put Fluoride in our drinking water if it is as toxic as all the toothpaste packets suggest?

Does it really help our teeth or does it simply erode them as it is a known pesticide used in farming, also known for being used to kill people on mass as explained in documentaries on world war 2?

Answers:

Because nobody thinks that us humans are capable of looking after our own health. They think we can't make up our own minds on what we should do/not do. Eat/not eat.

So hence we are all FORCED to comply to what THEY want us to do.

City water contains trace amounts of fluoride. Ever accidentally swallowed fluoride at the dentist office? I did, and you puke it all out within a couple minutes. The side effects of fluoride in your drinking water are negligible compared to the benefits. Especially in North America, where the consumption of acidic and sugary foods is prevalent.

It beats visiting the dentist an extra time per year, that's for sure!
